1) What is music programming?
It is the deliberate planning of music for use on radio.
2) What is station format?
What type of music they play e.g. Classic Rock, Urban and Hits.
3) Please give an example of 2 radio stations, the format and an example of 2 tracks?
Kerrang - The format is rock and metal and the 2 tracks they usually play are Good Charlotte - Girls and Boys and Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare.
4) What is an ABC playlist?
This is a list where they sort out what songs have priority over others mainly hit music would go into the A list and b and c would be the not so popular of the hits.
5) Explain how the choice of music would affect profits of a commercial radio station?
Capital FM - As Capital play more of this century music they need to make sure they keep it that way otherwise Capital could lose viewers and be closed down.
6) Explain some techniques in music programming to keep the listener interested?
"Start bright, Finish strong." a good way to keep the listeners, as you can start with a song that is popular or a wake up in the morning song and the finishing strong could be either a powerful or classic song that's still popular today.
